Why the Jeep seat failed at the side bolster

The outer bolster takes repeated friction every time a driver enters or leaves the vehicle. On this Jeep Rubicon, the covering had split near the seam and the foam beneath it had begun to lose its shape.

Replacing the complete seat would have discarded usable structure. The practical scope was to open the seat, inspect the frame and foam, and rebuild only the area that had failed.

Repairing the foam, panel and factory-style seams

The seat was disassembled so the damaged bolster could be reached without stretching the surrounding upholstery. The foam profile was restored before a matching automotive material was cut and sewn into the panel.
